Trice Spice is an IoT spice-mixer that dispenses different spices to make various culinary spice mixes.
The product design includes a dispensing mechanism, 12 spice containers, and multiple interface pages on app (UI control). It presents both the option for single spices and spice mixes, as well as options for various amounts (units: teaspoons for single spices and number of people for spice mixes). It also incorporates user feedback in the form of a notification on the app when spice containers need refilling, noise feedback when dispensing is complete, and LED feedback when dispensing is in progress and when complete.
Trice Spice was developed using an iterative approach with continuous testing. The electronic and digital aspects of the prototype were done using Arduino (using C++) and Node-RED (using JavaScript), and for the physical design we primarily used laser cutting in combination with various common mechanics techniques.
