HobbyMeUp is an online hobby equipment sharing platform. It builds on a similar concept to that one Airbnb, and allows owners of hobby equipment to rent out their equipment to individuals. The platform allows potential renters to get in contact with owners of the desired equipment. The owner and renter can then agree on a price, rental duration, pick up time and location, and other practicalities through the HobbyMeUp app. The app also provides the option of adding insurance to each rental.
The concept focuses on the Sustainable Development Goal number 12, sustainable consumption and production. By facilitating sharing of hobby equipment, it presents a sustainable alternative to each user purchasing their own equipment, thereby reducing consumption.
The concept was developed using a user-centered approach with continuous user involvement and testing throughout the process.
